This year, the Gran Gala del Deporte de Vigo rewarded the Monte Real Club de Yates, granting it a special mention for its 50 years of history , which the club from Baiona celebrated in 2015. The City Council of Vigo thus recognizes the extensive trajectory of Monte Real in the sports field.
Since its birth, on March 24, 1965, Monte Real has starred in some of the most important chapters in the history of sailing, which has allowed it to become an indisputable benchmark for this sport in Spain.
At present, the Baion club is world-renowned for two of its regattas, the Príncipe de Asturias Trophy and the Conde de Gondomar Trophy , which have already crossed the border of 30 and 40 editions, respectively.
The club received recognition from the Vigo Sport Foundation in a year in which it stands out for its return to international regattas, with the celebration of the Baiona Angra Atlantic Race , a test that will start on July 3 from the fishing village towards the Azores archipelago.
The seventeenth edition of the Vigo Sports Grand Gala was held on Wednesday, March 16, at the A Fundación Theater in the city of Olívica.
