Decisive day for the J80 Autumn League

· This Saturday the last three tests of the autumnal one-design championship that have been held in Baiona since last October will be held

· Located at the head of the classification, Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen is the sailboat that has the most ballots to win the final victory of the league

Fernando Yáñez’s El Cansino and Santiago Estévez’s Spaco are in second and third, 10 and 19 points behind the first respectively

· After the celebration of the last regattas, the Monte Real Club de Yates will award the prizes to the winners of the competition

This Saturday will be a decisive day for the J80 Autumn League, the one-design competition that has been held in Baiona since last October under the organization of the Monte Real Yacht Club.

The bay of Baiona will host the last three regattas of the championship, which will end up defining a winners’ podium that, except for last-minute surprises, has a clear favourite, Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen.

The J80, led by the skipper from Vigo, has won 5 victories in the 6 races held so far and is at the top of the standings with 5 points, with a fairly comfortable margin compared to its most direct rivals.

Those rivals, aspiring to one of the podium positions, are Fernando Yáñez’s Cansino and Santiago Estévez’s Spaco, located in second and third position with 15 and 24 points respectively. And not much farther from them, they are followed by Juan Luis Tuero’s Luna Nueva, with 25 points, and Juan Carlos Ameneiro’s Alboroto, with 29.

It will, therefore, be very close, that center of the list where anything can happen depending on the ability of the crews in the last rounds of the championship, which will once again be double courses between buoys of the windward-leeward type.

The forecast for this Saturday announces a fairly autumnal day, with overcast skies, some possibility of rain, and southerly winds above 7 knots, which may reach up to fourteen at the moment.

Once the last tests in the water have been completed, the Monte Real Club de Yates will award the prizes to the winners of the competition, complying with the security protocols established by COVID19.

Marías manages to beat Okofen, which continues to lead

Manuel María Cunha’s Marías gives the surprise of the day by becoming the first J80 to beat Okofen so far in the championship

· Despite not winning one of the races, sailor Javier de la Gándara from Vigo consolidated Okofen’s leadership in the J80 Autumn League

The ocean sailor and his crew have won 5 victories in the 6 races held so far in the Monte Real Club de Yates league

The sailor from Vigo Javier de la Gándara once again showed his worth one more day in the waters of the Bay of Baiona by leading a new triumphant day for Okofen in the J80 Autumn League. The ocean sailor and his crew have 5 victories in the 6 races held so far in the league organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates.

The full number of first places achieved so far by Okofen was marred only by a second position signed this afternoon in one of the tests. A result that, with the entry into play of a discard, they were able to eliminate from the scoreboard, thus consolidating their leadership and moving further and further away from their rivals.

With 5 points, Gándara’s men are at the top of the standings, followed by Fernando Yáñez’s Cansino, who once again slipped into the top positions, but without managing to climb to first position. He finished third and second in the regattas this Saturday in Baiona and placed second in the provisional general standings with 15 points.

Spaco de Santiago Estévez also climbed one position and slipped into the provisional podium, greatly favored by the application of the discard. They will reach the final with 24 points, with Juan Luis Tuero’s Luna Nueva hot on their heels from fourth position with 25 points. Juan Carlos Ameneiro’s Fuss closes the Top 5 of the J80 Autumn League, with 29 points.

The surprise of this third day, in which the wind blew with intensity and added emotion to the tests, was given by Manuel María Cunha’s Marías. The Portuguese, recently arrived from Calpe from competing in the Spanish Sailing League representing the Monte Real Club de Yates, managed to beat Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen in the first test of the day, something that no other sailboat had achieved so far. With that first place and the third achieved in the second test, in which they were affected by a broken spinnaker, he managed to climb quite a few positions in the general classification, but his absences in the first days keep him away from the positions of honor.

The J80 League continues to be played in compliance with all the security protocols established due to the coronavirus pandemic, with a large number of control measures to avoid any risk situation.

The fourth and last day of the competition will be held at the end of this month, on Saturday, November 28, on a day in which, in addition to the final tests in the water, the Monte Real Club de Yates will award the prizes to the winners.

Third round of the Autumn League for the Galician fleet of J80

· The 17 boats that have been competing in the one-design league since last October return to the water tomorrow, Saturday, to compete on the third day

· The expectations of the fleet happen because the 3 scheduled tests can be held after the previous day they could only dispute one

Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen, Juan Carlos Ameneiro’s Alboroto and Fernando Yáñez’s Cansino lead the classification

The Galician J80 fleet will compete this Saturday in Baiona for the third round of the Autumn League, which has been held since last October under the organization of the Monte Real Yacht Club.

The 17 participating boats will return to the water with enthusiasm after the previous day only one of the three scheduled regattas could be disputed due to bad weather conditions.

On this occasion, the forecast indicates that the wind will blow above 15 knots, reaching peaks close to 25, so, in principle, there should be no problems completing the program.

The regattas will begin, as usual, at three in the afternoon, and will include a double course between buoys. If all three scheduled races are finally run, a discard will come into play, and once each boat removes its worst partial result from the counter, there could be surprises in the standings.

Until now, the leadership belongs, clearly and forcefully, to Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen, who achieved four first places in the four races held. In second position, 7 points behind Okofen, is Juan Carlos Ameneiro’s Alboroto; and with just one point of difference between them, Fernando Yáñez’s Cansino and Santiago Estévez’s Spaco are in third and fourth place.

The favorites do not disappoint in the second day of the J80 Autumn League marked by the wind

· Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen manages to stay in the lead after getting another victory and expanding the points cushion over their rivals

· El Alboroto by Juan Carlos Ameneiro and El Cansino by Fernando Yáñez consolidate second and third place in the provisional classification

· The three tests planned for today were reduced to one due to the wind with gusts that exceeded 30 knots

The Okofen by Javier de la Gándara, the Riot of Juan Carlos Ameneiro and the Fernando Yáñez’s Cansino consolidate the first three places in the J80 Autumn League of the Monte Real Club de Yates, which this Saturday reached its halfway point with the dispute of the second of the four days scheduled between October and November.

The 17 participating one-designs could only take part this afternoon in one of the three tests scheduled in the program, since the weather met the forecasts and left a hard Saturday at sea, with a southerly wind always above 20 knots with gusts that they were over 30.

After seeing that the conditions were getting complicated at times, preventing the fleet from sailing safely, the regatta committee, with Jano Martín at the helm, decided to send the fleet ashore once the first test was over, in which the favorites did not disappoint .

Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen was the first to cross the finish line, signing his fourth first so far in the competition. He was closely followed by the Rampage of Juan Carlos Ameneiro, who came second and remains in second place on the provisional podium.

Santiago Estevez’s Spaco qualified third today, but failed to beat Fernando Yáñez’s Cansino in the general standings who, despite finishing seventh, still have the bronze around their necks.

Behind Spaco -fourth-, are Rosario García’s Ferralemes , in fifth position; Luna Nueva by Juan Luis Tuero, in sixth; and Nacho Salgueiro’s Miudo , who is seventh. Francisco J Martínez’s SND Cormorant climbed to eighth position overall today.

The only test disputed by the one-design fleet this Saturday was a windward-leeward course with a shorter distance than usual, as it was shortened by up to a mile due to the wind, which blew from the south with 20 sustained knots and gusts of up to 30.

These harsh conditions with which the regatta began became even more complicated as the minutes went by and finally forced the regatta committee to leave the day with a single test.

The J80 class Autumn League, in which 17 boats compete, will continue next Saturday, November 7 with the third and penultimate day of tests.

The return to Spain against cancer of the Pelayo Vida Challenge ends at the Monte Real Yacht Club

This afternoon the Pelayo Life Challenge – Vuelta a España 2020 arrived at the Monte Real Club de Yates, a solidarity project that aims to give visibility to cancer in women and the importance of practicing sports as part of their recovery.

A crew made up of 5 women who have overcome breast cancer are the protagonists of this test of self-improvement, psychological strength, courage and optimism.

They want to send a message of hope to women who have suffered or are suffering from the disease, showing them that, after overcoming cancer, life can be resumed normally.

They also seek to raise awareness of the importance of investing in cancer research and the need to help all women who are currently in the same situation that they went through in their day.

The 5 expedition members of the Pelayo Life Challenge – Vuelta España 2020 are Marián, from Elche; Lorraine, from Cartagena; Fatima, from Jerez; Maria, from Barakaldo; and Nuria, from Teruel.

They left Bilbao days ago and will sail to Barcelona. After leaving the Bay of Biscay, they have several stages ahead of them in the Atlantic and once they have crossed the Strait, they will finish their journey in the Mediterranean, in Barcelona.

This afternoon, before continuing the route, the crew made a stop at the Monte Real Club de Yates, where they were received with a warm welcome by the staff of the Baionese club.

Javier de la Gándara made Okofen the first leader of the J80 class Autumn League this afternoon after winning the opening day held in the Bay of Baiona. The sailboat, skippered by the historic sailor and crewed by his usual team, finished first in all the events held and this plenary session placed them directly at the forefront of the one-design championship organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates.

The three tests with which the competition markers were released this Saturday were held in very good weather conditions, with sun, few waves and a north wind that started blowing at around 9 knots and rose to 16. They were all held in the same regatta field with the usual route of the Monte Real leagues, made up of four windward-leeward sections that added up to a total of 3.2 nautical miles.

In the first test of the day Okofen clearly dominated, from start to finish. It took first place followed by Ferralemes, skippered by Rosario García, who came second; and Santiago Estévez’s Spaco was the third to cross the finish line.

In the second test, which opened with an off-line and subsequent rectification by Maija, Okofen repeated victory, showing that they had started the autumn season with great force. In this test, Fernando Yáñez’s Cansino came out ready to fight, but despite the initial boost that allowed him to close the gap with Okofen, he was not able to overcome Gándara’s. He managed, yes, to finish second, and beat Juan Carlos Ameneiro’s Fuss, who finished third.

And in the third and last regatta of the day, in which the same weather conditions were maintained, there were no changes in the leadership either, although there was in the navigation and arrivals, which were much tighter than in the initial sleeves. Despite the fact that the track was more disputed, the Okofen was once again the winner, sentencing the opening day with a full of firsts. Second position went to Juan Carlos Ameneiro’s Alboroto and Fernando Yáñez’s Cansino came in third.

Thus, the maximum of three tests foreseen in the program have been completed, with Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen (3 points), Juan Carlos Ameneiro’s Alboroto (9 points) and Fernando Yáñez’s Cansino (10 points), located At the top of the classification, the regatta committee, led by Jano Martín, ended the opening day of the J80 Autumn League and summoned the participants for the second round, which will be held on Saturday, October 24 .

The contenders for the title of the 35th Prince of Asturias Trophy take their positions in Baiona

  • With the premiere of the Gadis ORC 5 and SH Robotics ORC Open categories, the Monte Real meeting today brought together a total of 70 boats in the bay of Baiona competing for the Príncipe de Asturias Trophy
  • Magical, Cachete, Deep Blue 2.0, Chispa Nejra, Albarellos, Okofen and Tutatis Gestilar are the leaders of the queen event of the Baion club after the second day of regattas
  • Once the day’s tests are finished, at 8:00 p.m. the prestigious Terras Gauda National Sailing Awards will be delivered
  • Tomorrow, Sunday, the third and last day of regattas with everything to be decided in the seven classes in contention

The Prince of Asturias Trophy is halfway through its thirty-fifth edition. With the premiere of the Gadis ORC 5 and SH Robotics ORC Open categories, today the Bay of Baiona brought together a total of 70 boats divided into seven classes and three regatta fields, successfully completing the testing program of its second day. In the absence of what happens tomorrow in the final day, Magical, Cachete, Deep Blue 2.0, Chispa Nejra, Albarellos, Okofen and Tutatis Gestilar are for now the provisional leaders of the event.

In the race course of the ORC divisions from 2 to 4 the wind did not make things easy for the Race Committee. The lack of wind caused a delay of an hour and a half in the water at the beginning of the day, although finally with about 11 knots from the north component the fleet was able to hear the honk for the first of the two windward-leeward tests that would be held in this second day of competition.

In the category Nacexa ORC 2 the general has been tightened to the maximum after the dispute of the third and fourth regatta, and the five-point tie with which the Magical and Yess Too teams finished yesterday in the lead was provisionally resolved today in favor of the first. With Julio Rodríguez at the helm, the Magical of the Real Club Náutico de Vigo continues to lead the general standings -now alone- with a second and a fifth scored this afternoon, while Rui Ramada’s Yess Too moves into fifth place just one podium point.

The second position is now for the Solventis of Malalo Bermúdez after adding a sixth and a third in his locker, positioning himself three points behind those of Ramada. From behind, a good day also for Aceites Abril de Luis and Jorge Pérez Canal, who with a partial victory and a fourth climb to third place on the provisional podium.

In total, only five points separate the top six finishers, so it will all depend on what happens tomorrow.

In Aceites Abril ORC 3 , Fran Edreira’s Cachete was once again the best in the regatta field. The boat from Club Marítimo La Penela added two more partial victories today and sits at the top of the general standings with a five-point advantage over José Luis Alonso’s Antelope – Kahaway, which also maintains its second position after two second places noted today.

Where there have been changes is in third place on the provisional podium, which is now occupied by Rui Amorín’s Milaneza after adding two third places.

For its part, in the Autesa ORC 4 division, the Deep Blue 2.0 of the Real Club Náutico de Vigo has not moved from first place today either. Vicente Cid’s team scored a second and a new partial victory, extending their lead by one point over Luis García Trigo’s Unus, who added their first win in the opening test of the day and a third in the second round. Luis Mª Pérez’s Balea Dous, meanwhile, also continues in third position in the provisional classification.

In the general classification of the Juan Sebastián Elcano Award, which encompasses the categories of ORC 2, 3 and 4 as a whole, today El Cachete stormed the lead ahead of Magical and Solventis, second and third respectively.

Meanwhile, with the start located in the Carallones area and wind conditions between 10 and 12 knots of intensity, at 12:00 noon the coastal test for the categories started. Gadis ORC 5 and SH Robotics ORC Open , which premiered today in the thirty-fifth edition of the Prince of Asturias Trophy.

With a journey of about 20 miles and more than four and a half hours of navigation through the Vigo estuary, José Rey’s Chispa Nejra, which sails under the banner of the Club Náutico de Beluso, was the fastest in Gadis ORC 5 both in real time and compensated, thus becoming the provisional leader of the regatta. Following behind in the general classification are the Travesío La Riviere with Carlos Lourido at the helm and the Santiago Roma Rías Baixas of Iñaki Carbajo, second and third respectively.

On SH Robotics Open the Albarellos del Monte Real Club de Yates, which sails with Fernando Rey at the helm, was placed at the head of the general classification after the dispute in the coastal regatta by achieving a five-minute advantage in compensated time over the Lacazán of Ignacio Pedrosa, who is second. O Norte by Joaquim Moreira ranks third in this division.

For their part, the monotypes also completed their scheduled testing program today, this time with the race course located outside the bay, in front of the Parador de Baiona, to take advantage of the best wind conditions.

In the Solventis J80 category, the first two classified maintain their positions in the general classification. The Monte Real team, Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen, repeats yesterday’s positions with two partial victories and one second in the three races held, and continues to lead the standings with a narrow two-point lead over Solintal from Santander Ignacio Camino, who added two seconds and one first in his locker.

Eight points behind the second classified, in the third drawer of the podium of the most numerous fleet of the Prince of Asturias, today stood Dr. Chacartegui de Javier Chacartegui, who with three third places and discarding his worst result rises to third position to lack of the last day of regattas.

For its part, in the Gestilar Ladies Cup class, the second day of regattas also ended with changes in the top positions in the general classification. Pilar Casares’s Tutatis Gestilar, which was yesterday in second place in the general standings, tied on points with Marta Ramada’s Erizana Gestilar, today scored two brilliant partial victories and was at the top of the podium with two points ahead of the of Ramada, who sealed a second and a fifth to place themselves in second place overall.

For his part, Fran Edreira’s Cachete had no rival today in class oils April ORC 3 and took the win in the two races held, achieving a three-point lead over José Luis Alonso’s Antelope-Kahaway, who added a second and a third that allowed him to take second place overall on this first day of race.

In third place is Ramón Ojea’s Bosch Service Solution with eight points. After scoring a sixth in the first test of the day, Ojea’s men finished the day with a second place that allowed them to take the provisional third position.

In the Autesa ORC 4 category, leadership went to Vicente Cid’s Deep Blue 2.0, who scored the two victories of the day both in compensated time and in real time to place himself at the top of the podium with a total of two points. Behind, Luis García’s Unus sealed two second places and placed second with a four-point advantage over the third-placed team, Luis Mª Pérez’s Balea Dous, who made his debut scoring a fifth and a third today.

In addition to the Prince of Asturias Trophy, these three ORC categories will also compete this weekend for the Juan Sebastián Elcano Award, which defines the best classified team of the three classes as a whole. At the moment, after the dispute on the first day, the Magical is at the top of the table with the same points as the second classified, Yess Too, and one over Solventis, who is third. Anything can happen in the general standings, and with two days to go and only three points difference between the top five finishers, the results could still turn around.

For their part, the one-designs also heard today the starting gun of the Prince of Asturias in very good conditions during the three tests in charge of defining the first leaders of the Solventis J80 and two for the Gestilar Ladies Cup fleet.

Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen was the best in Solventis J80 , the largest fleet of the seven participating in this edition of the Prince of Asturias Trophy. De la Gándara and his team added two first and one second and were placed at the top of the podium with three points of rent over Ignacio Camino’s Solintal, which is second with a fourth, a first and a second in their locker. Behind, with fourteen points, Ricardo Díaz-Munio’s Matraco completes the provisional podium with a sixth, a fifth and a third place in the three disputed races.

The day was more even for the crews of the Gestilar Ladies Cup. While waiting for several protests to be resolved -the Committee was still resolving several at the time of writing this information-, the Fígaro skippered by Marta Ramada, the Erizana Gestilar, is currently in first position with a third and a partial victory and tied on points with the second classified team, Pilar Casares’s Tutatis Gestilar. Those from Casares scored two second places today, which allows them for the moment to obtain a three-point lead over Conchi de Pedro’s Silleiro Gestilar, who closed the drawer after scoring the first victory of the day and a sixth in the second and last chance.

Tomorrow, the second day with the entire fleet competing and the traditional presentation of the Terras Gauda National Sailing Awards

Starting at 12:00 noon, the five categories that have been thrown into the water today will be joined by another two tomorrow: Gadis ORC 5 and SH Robotics ORC Open. It will be precisely the Open division that will have the participation of the Adapted Sailing boat, a team made up of sailors with functional diversity from the Monte Real Adapted Sailing School thanks to the support of the Department of Social Policy of the Xunta de Galicia.

In total, 70 boats competing in one of the most anticipated events of the season.

Once the day is over, the Baiona club will host the prestigious Terras Gauda National Sailing Awards at 8:00 p.m., in which the most outstanding sailors and teams of last season will be awarded.

A detailed security protocol against Covid19 for the Prince of Asturias Trophy

As established by the protocols of the Royal Galician Sailing Federation and the Xunta de Galicia, Monte Real has made every effort this year to guarantee the safety of the participants, workers and collaborators of the Prince of Asturias, thus trying to avoid any risk of contagion of Covid19.

Temperature taking at the entrance, masks and hydroalcoholic gels available to all participants, disinfection of the facilities several times a day, specific personnel to control the rules and radio reminders of the obligation to use the mask are some of the measures that Monte Real has adopted to carry out the thirtieth edition of the regatta.

The Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona unfurls the sails of the Prince of Asturias Trophy tomorrow, Friday, which is held from until Sunday in the waters of the Rías Baixas. The competition will put Galicia in the spotlight of the Spanish nautical scene for three days in a year marked by the suspension of multiple championships due to COVID19.

The sponsorship of ABANCA and the support of multiple firms and companies has allowed the club from Baiona to celebrate what will be the thirty-fifth edition of its star trophy, an edition in which 70 boats will participate, a limit set by Monte Real to be able to comply with health protocols and guarantee the safety of the participants.

The competition will start, if the wind allows it, tomorrow Friday at three in the afternoon, with the departure of the first test of the ORC 2-3-4 from a regatta field located near the Cíes Islands. If the program is fulfilled, half an hour later the first honk will sound for the J80 monotypes and the Gestilar Ladies Cup, which will compete inside the Bay of Baiona. The ORC 5, Open and Open Extra will remain only on land, pending their debut in the competition on Saturday.

Among the participants this year, many familiar faces from previous editions and some novelties. The Magical by Julio Rodriguez, a Swan 42 that won the Conde de Gondomar Trophy last July, will make its debut in the trophy. It will compete in the ORC 2 class with boats such as Solventis owned by Alberto Moro, or the Portuguese Xekmatt owned by Jose Carlos Prista and Yess Too owned by Rui Ramada, the latter winner of the last edition of the Prince in ORC 1. In ORC 2 there will also be crews such as those from the Aceites Abril of the Pérez Canal brothers, the Pairo 8 of Luis Bugallo, the Arroutado of José Manuel Pérez, the Eleko Mambo of Carlos Sampedro or the Lambaix of Antonio Ríos.

Ramón Ojea’s Bosch Service Solutions, who will fight to revalidate the victory achieved last year, will also enter the fray in the ORC 3 class. Jean Claude Sarrade’s Fend la Bise, bronze in the 2019 Principe, will be another contender for the ORC-3 title, a class in which we will also see Fran Edreira’s Cachete or Joao Tourigo’s Farofino.

And in ORC-4, which also starts the competition tomorrow, there will be boats such as La Burla Negra, by Juan José Martínez, Deep Blue 2.0 by Vicente Cid, Balea Dous by Luis Pérez or Unus by Luis García Trigo, among others.

The largest class in the competition will once again be the J80, in which a total of 18 crews will compete for victory, including Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen, winner in 2019; the Alboroto-Maui Jim by Juan Carlos Ameneiro or the Due by Pedro Pazos.
The ORC-5, ORC Open and Open Extra classes, with boats such as José Rey’s Chispa Nejra, Luis Suárez’s Maracaná I, Pablo Moro’s Habana or Bruno Gago’s Isla de Mouro, will not go out to compete until Saturday .

This thirty-fifth edition of the Prince of Asturias Trophy is sponsored by ABANCA and has the collaboration of firms such as Bodegas Terras Gauda (sponsor of the National Sailing Awards), Gestilar (sponsor of the Ladies Cup), Solitium, TuyPan, Coca Cola, Martin Miller, Gadis, Solventis, Volvo Autesa, Nacexa, HOLA, Paradores, Vanguard, April Oils, Foxy, Onda Cero, Helly Hansen, Tac Tic and SH Robotics. The competition also has the support of the Xunta de Galicia, the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, the council of Baiona and the Royal Spanish and Galician Sailing Federations.

Portugal, Mallorca, Ibiza, Castellón, the Basque Country and Madrid in the Gestilar Ladies Cup

The 35th Prince of Asturias Trophy will host, for yet another year on its programme, the Ladies Cup women’s competition, which this year is being held thanks to the sponsorship of the real estate developer Gestilar. In what will be the twenty-fourth edition of the regatta, crews from Portugal, Mallorca, Ibiza, Castellón, the Basque Country and Madrid will compete. They will do so, as has been the tradition, with crews of 6 sailors who will sail in the 6 Fígaros Beneteau owned by the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona.

The 420 women’s runner-up, Marta Ramada, will lead the Portuguese crew of the Gestilar Ladies Cup for another year. On this occasion, Ramada, who is looking for her third victory in the women’s competition of the Prince of Asturias Trophy, has managed to bring together in her team an outstanding cast of sailors who are currently preparing for the 2021 Olympics. Among them, the two-time snipe world champion, Mafalda Pires de Lima; the Portuguese 4X laser champion, Carolina Joao; and the Portuguese champion of 420, Joana Azevedo. They belong to different clubs in Portugal and will participate representing BBDouro.

The Olympians Sara Carmo and Susana Romero will be two of the crew members of another of the Ladies Cup teams, the one led by the women’s J80 world runner-up Nuria Sánchez, who will run through the Marina Burriananova (Castellón). They are joined by the Olympic Sara Carmo, who will carry the boat’s rod; the winner of the last Copa del Rey de Vela, Clara Llabrés; and the Galician Carmen Mateo and Victoria García, with several pre-Olympic campaigns behind them.

From the Basque Country, from the Real Club Náutico del Abra – Real Sporting Club, the team of Carmen Galdós, Euskadi champion of 420 and cruise, arrives in Baiona. Sailing alongside her, among others, will be the J80 junior world champion, Silvia Marcé; and the runner-up of Spain in J80 Leticia Gandarias. They are all from Getxo and despite having coincided in different classes, this will be the first time they are part of the same team.

Sailing through Puerto Pollensa (Majorca), the team led by Pilar Casares arrives at the Prince of Asturias Trophy. They are a group of sailors used to cruising who, after having won the 2019 edition of the Ladies Cup, will once again get on the Figaro Beneteau of the Monte Real Yacht Club to try to revalidate the title of winners.

From the Balearic Islands, the crew led by De Pedro, a regular in the Baionesa women’s regatta, in which this year will celebrate ten years of participation, also arrives in Galicia. It is made up of a group of vaurien athletes, recent runners-up in the Aguete Cruise Regatta, and they will compete representing the Ibiza Yacht Club.

The last of the six crews that will participate in this twenty-fourth edition of the Gestilar Ladies Cup is that of the Club Náutico Cervera, from Madrid, with Teresa Martínez and Laura Gil leading the team. They are one of the oldest crews when it comes to sailing in Baiona, where they have haggled for more than 20 years.
