A month has passed since the 2017 regatta season began and we are fully involved in the J80 Class Winter League. The year-long racing calendar got off to a strong start in which we welcomed the club’s new manager, world rowing champion and business management expert, Óscar Calero.

In this first newsletter of the new year, we send you our best wishes for 2017 and invite you to take part in all the activities that we will organize for you over the coming months. Regattas, events, sailing courses, sailing trips around Baiona… a wide range of which we will inform you about through our website and networks.

As always on these dates, the president of the club, José Luis Álvarez, addresses all of you to convey to you, on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Monte Real Club de Yates, our warmest congratulations this holiday season and our best wishes for the coming year. New 2017.

With the change of season and the beginning of autumn we leave behind the great regattas of the summer but we are still immersed in a lot of activity. After the celebration of the second edition of the Solidarity Vertiathlon, we got fully involved in the Banco Sabadell Class J80 Trophy, which will last until the end of November.

Now that the Prince of Asturias Trophy and the Terras Gauda National Sailing Awards are over, we remember, as always, everything that happened through a special newsletter. It has been, without a doubt, a great edition, and we hope that all of you have enjoyed it.

This month of July, which is about to end, we have experienced with great intensity at the Monte Real Club de Yates. Together with the Angra Iate Clube de Azores we celebrate the Baiona Angra Atlantic Race, a competition that has been a complete success and that we hope to be able to repeat in 2018. We also organized one of our most beloved trophies, the Count of Gondomar, which this year was the Banco Sabadell Grand Prize.

Last Sunday, the Baiona Angra Atlantic Race, organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates in collaboration with the Angra Iate Clube, left for the Azores Islands. The start of the test was experienced with great expectation in Baiona, and everything is developing as planned.

This summer we have prepared an extensive program of activities so that you can enjoy sailing in Baiona. For the little ones we have Dinghy Sailing Courses, Cruising Sailing Courses for the elderly, and for families and groups of friends, Getaways to the Cíes Islands and Sailboat Sunsets.

We start the month of June with our sights set on the Baiona Angra Atlantic Race, for which there is little more than a month left. Before we will celebrate the Galician Championship of Solitaires and Two – II Rafael Olmedo Memorial. The Baitra Children’s Sailing Trophy, the second edition of the Solidarity Vertiathlon or the summer courses of the MRCYB Sailing School are other issues that we address in this newsletter.

Last April we presented the Baiona Angra Atlantic Race in the Azores, which continues to advance at a good pace with a view to its celebration starting on July 3, when it will leave Baiona for Angra do Heroismo. Before its celebration, and once the Repsol Trophy is over, we will host several more competitions at the club. The next one will be the Baitra Children’s Sailing Championship.

Last weekend we put an end to our first major regatta of the season, the AXA Trophy, and we have everything ready to hold the next event this nautical spring, the Repsol Trophy, which will take place at the end of of the month, on April 30 and May 1.

With April already knocking at the door, we are getting ready to start the season of great regattas, which we inaugurate, as has become a tradition, with the Winter Regatta, sponsored on this occasion by AXA. In this newsletter we will also tell you about the Baiona Angra Atlantic Race and the J80 Class Winter League, in which Francisca Barros’ Miudo won.

In this newsletter we welcome March and one of the most important events in our beloved town of Baiona, the Arribada 2016. We have scheduled departures to sail around the bay and see the shows from an area close to the coast, thus avoiding crowds and stress; and we will also make discounts on moorings for all those who want to come to Baiona by boat.

The Baiona Angra Atlantic Race is progressing at a very good pace and there are already several boats registered to sail, next July 3, from Baiona to Angra do Heroismo. We are also talking about the 420 Galician Championship and the J80 Class Vitaldent Trophy.

We are pleased to announce that the registration period is now open to be able to participate in the BAIONA ANGRA ATLANTIC RACE, a competition with which we return to ocean regattas hand in hand with the Angra Iate Clube de Angra do Heroismo (Açores). It will depart on July 3 from Baiona and is limited to the participation of 40 boats.

We are beginning 2016 which will undoubtedly be an important year for the club, because we will return to international regattas with the Baiona Azores Atlantic Race, and because we will once again organize our most classic competitions. In this first newsletter of the year we want to invite you to all the activities that we will organize throughout this 2016.

On November 27, the General Assembly was held for the election of the positions of the Board of Directors for the next four years. The participation of 86% of the partners revealed everyone’s interest in setting the path for the future and trust in the people who will develop it. A message from the president and the presentation of the Board of Directors are some of the topics of this newsletter.
