After inaugurating the cruise season with the Communicate Trophy , the Regatta 525 Anniversary of the Arrival of the Caravel Pinta is, without a doubt, the great event of this month of May, a month that we open with the celebration of the Spanish Championship of the J80 Class – Repsol Trophy and in which we renewed our blue flag.

The Comunica Trophy, the Repsol Trophy, the J80 Class Spanish Championship… April is, without a doubt, an intense month at the Monte Real Yacht Club. In this new newsletter you will be able to find out in detail what the next competitions that we will celebrate in Baiona will be like and also look back.

The celebration of the festival of the Arribada focuses this newsletter on a special year, in which the 525th anniversary of the arrival of La Pinta in Baiona is commemorated, bringing news from the new world. To celebrate, the club will organize a specific regatta for the 6m class, in addition to programming activities on holidays.

Fully involved in the celebration of the Infinitus Rent Trophy, we have launched the second edition of the Baiona Angra Atlantic Race and published the regatta announcement for the Baitra Dinghy Sailing Trophy. All this while we obtained the Q for Tourist Quality and Baiona became the municipality with the most traffic in Galicia.

Two years after the celebration of its first edition, the Baiona Angra Atlantic Race returns, one of the few ocean regattas organized from Spain, born in 2016 by the Monte Real Club de Yates (Galicia) and the Angra Iate Clube (Açores).

The Monte Real Club de Yates presents an intense calendar for 2018. Among the 15 sporting events scheduled is the J80 Spanish Championship and the return to international regattas with the second edition of the Baiona Angra Atlantic Race ocean race. The Prince of Asturias Trophy or the Count of Gondomar Trophy are other great events.

The Christmas message from the president of the club, José Luis Álvarez, focuses on a newsletter that takes stock of 2017, a year of growing activity in the different areas of Monte Real, both at a sporting and social level, in which its presence increased nationally and internationally through the different events led by our Club.

With the arrival of autumn we leave behind all the hustle and bustle of the summer months but our program is still full of activities and initiatives of all kinds. After the celebration of the third edition of the Solidarity Vertiathlon of Baiona, we fully immersed ourselves in the AXA J80 Autumn League and finalized the celebration of Galicia, Atlantic Destination, an international nautical tourism summit.

A few days ago we said goodbye to the thirty-second edition of one of our most beloved competitions, the Prince of Asturias Trophy. In this first “post-Príncipe” newsletter we make a brief summary of what has happened these days, both in the Prince of Asturias Trophy and in the Terras Gauda National Sailing Awards.

In less than a month we will be celebrating at the club one of the most important sailing events on the Spanish nautical scene, the Prince of Asturias Trophy. We will arrive at it with the good taste in our mouths left by the 42nd Count of Gondomar – Banco Sabadell Trophy, which we celebrated last July with a great success of participation.

In July one of the competitions with the longest history of the Monte Real Yacht Club arrives, the Conde de Gondomar Trophy, which this year celebrates its forty-second edition sponsored by Banco Sabadell. We return to the regattas “for adults” after having celebrated, at the beginning of the month, the Final of the Social League, of the students of our Sailing School.

The Galician Solitary and Two-handed Championship and the Baitra Children’s Sailing Trophy have been the focus of the club’s sporting activity in recent weeks, in which, in addition to holding these competitions, we have announced a new date on our calendar: the Ría de Vigo Interclub Regatta , and we held the first meetings for the 2018 Baiona Angra Atlantic Race.

With summer just around the corner, we want to let you know about the program of activities that we have prepared. We will have, as always, activities for children and adults, for those who already know how to sail and for those who want to learn, for those who want to do tourism and for those who want to enjoy the sea.

With our traditional Winter Regatta and Spring Regatta we kicked off the 2017 regatta season. The next appointment on the calendar is for the little ones, in the Baitra Children’s Sailing Trophy, with which we maintain our commitment to basic sailing.

This April we will celebrate the first two major competitions of 2017: the Comunica Trophy and the Repsol Trophy. We also tell you that the club has renewed the SICTED, a badge of “Commitment to Tourist Quality” that recognizes the effort of Monte Real with the quality of its services and continuous improvement.

In recent weeks we have started sailing with new associations in our Adapted Sailing School for people with disabilities, we have signed an agreement with the Baiona fishermen’s association and we have held safety days in marinas for sailors from all over Galicia.

With the Arribada 2017 just around the corner, we inform you of the proposals that the Monte Real Club de Yates will offer within the framework of this great festival, declared of international tourist interest. During the days of the festivities (March 3, 4 and 5), we will organize sailing trips and apply discounts on mooring fees.
