The brigantine-schooner Juan Sebastián de Elcano sails towards Galician waters, with a first destination indicated in the Bay of Baiona, where it will anchor in the early hours of the morning of next Friday, July 12.
The mission of the ship, flagship of the Spanish Navy, is its resolute support for the Villa de Baiona in its candidacy before UNESCO to be recognized as a World Heritage Site, together with Santa Fe de Granada and Palos de la Frontera, the Peoples Columbians from Spain, strategic enclaves in the discovery of the New World.
The Baiona city council, promoter of the initiative, together with the Spanish Navy, will carry out a series of official acts for this reason, which include a reception by the Baiona municipal government and a series of scheduled visits aboard the Spanish ship.
