The Monte Real Yacht Club of Bayonne celebrates this Friday, August 21, its half century of life with a private party organized exclusively for its members.
In this way, the Baionese club wants to commemorate the 50 years that have passed since, on March 24, 1965, it was established with the objectives of promoting international nautical tourism, organizing regattas at the highest level and transmitting love for sailing to the new generations.
Since then, Monte Real has starred in some of the most important chapters of sailing in our country. It challenged the America’s Cup, organized numerous international regattas, and currently celebrates some of the most important competitions in Spain, such as the Prince of Asturias Trophy, which is about to be played.
The festive day this Friday, which includes a cocktail and a live musical performance, will be held from nine at night and will have a very notable absence, that of Don Rafael Olmedo Limeses, president of the club for more than 40 years , who died last February at the age of 99.
