· The boats participating in the thirty-ninth edition of the competition will leave the bay of Baiona at three in the afternoon towards the Pontevedra estuary
· Once the coastal route has been completed, the facilities of the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo will host the awards ceremony for the first stage
· The crews will return to Baiona on Sunday for the second and last day of tests that will end at the Monte Real Club de Yates
Tomorrow, Saturday, between the Vigo and Pontevedra estuaries, the thirty-ninth edition of the Repsol Trophy will be held, organized by the Monte Real Yacht Club.
The competition will begin in the bay of Baiona at three in the afternoon, when the regatta committee will start a coastal route that, after crossing the Vigo estuary and the Costa de la Vela, will end in the Pontevedra estuary, in front of the facilities of the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo.
The weather forecasts announce a day of sun and little sea, with winds from the north and northwest of between 12 and 18 knots, conditions that will favor rapid navigation of the fleet, made up of about thirty ships, towards its final destination.
Among the participants are boats from the different ORC classes, along with monotypes from the J80 class and also Figaros. Crews from different parts of the Galician geography that will compete for one of the most attractive trophies of the sailing season in Galicia.
The regatta will end around six in the afternoon in Sanxenxo, and the Pontevedra town yacht club will host the award ceremony for the winners of the first stage, an event attended by representatives of Repsol, as sponsor of the competition, and directors of the Monte Real Club de Yates and the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo.
A day later, on Sunday, May 1, starting at half past twelve, the fleet will face the second and last day of the Repsol Trophy competition, in which the participating boats must return to Baiona on a coastal route similar to the of the first stage. They will pass through the Islote dos Viños, La Negra and Carallones, and will cross the finish line in the bay of Baiona.
At five o’clock in the afternoon, at the Monte Real Club de Yates, the final trophy awards ceremony will be held, which will put an end to the traditional spring regatta of the Baiona yacht club.
