The Spanish Impulse by Iberostar has been recognized by the jury of the Terras Gauda National Sailing Awards as the best regatta team of the year. The crew, made up of seven Spanish sailors of the highest level, will receive the award next September in Baiona that recognizes their performance representing Spain in the Youth America’s Cup, the youth version of the Copa América de Vela, held last month June in Bermuda.
The “roosters” team, as they are popularly known, includes the Olympic sailors Jordi Xammar and Diego Botín; world champions Joel Rodríguez, Florian Trittel and Kevin Cabrera; and the Spanish champions Luis Bugallo and Joan Cardona.
His brave and innovative project, directed by María del Mar de Ros, and based on the union of talent and effort, as well as the results obtained in the most prestigious and oldest sailing competition in the world, have been the aspects valued by the jury of the Terras Gauda National Sailing Awards to give them the award for the best regatta team.
A new recognition for some young sailors who are already working towards a new goal, to become the fifth Copa América Spanish Challenge.
The National Sailing Awards ceremony will be held on September 2 in Baiona, under the organization of the Monte Real Yacht Club. The Catalan Jordi Xammar will be in charge of collecting the award on behalf of the team.
