At last the wind blew away with the participating fleet in the 36th Prince of Asturias Trophy organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates and the Escuela Naval Militar with the sponsorship of ABANCA. This Saturday, with all the participating categories already in contention and the teams willing to open the markers that could not be opened on the first day, the regatta committee was able to honk the start with a west-northwest wind that ranged from the five and the twelve knots. With the first departure scheduled at twelve noon for all classes, the fleet had to wait again this Saturday for the wind to decide to enter. Finally, shortly before two in the afternoon, the committee was able to start the competition with a coastal course for the ORC 5 and Special cruisers, two barlosotas for the longest boats and three for J80 and Ladies Cup.
In the Aceites Abril ORC 1 category, only two points separate the three teams that occupy the provisional podium, leaving everything open for the final day. The defender of the title, the Magical of Julio Rodríguez (RCN Vigo), opens the classification leading with a second and a first in the two contested races, followed by only one point by the Solventis of Malalo Bermúdez de Castro (MRCYB) with a victory in the first test and a third in the second. Very close, two points behind Magical and one behind Solventis, the Xekmatt of José Carlos Prista (ANL) closes the podium.
The two victories of the day for the Nacexa ORC 2 fleet were divided between the Aceites Abril of Luis and Jorge Pérez Canal (RCN Vigo) and the Marías of Manuel María Cunha (MRCYB). The Pérez Canal brothers also added a second in the first test that allows the team from Ourense to be at the top of the classification while the Marías, with a fifth in the second test, is third.
