The AXA J80 Autumn League will be held in the waters of the Bay of Baiona, on October 13 and 27, November 10 and 24, organized by the Monte Real Yacht Club.
1. RULES
1.1 The Regatta will be governed by:
a) The rules as defined in the WS Racing Rules of Sailing 2017–2020 (RRV).
b) J80 Class One Design Regulations and their special adaptations of the J80 Galicia Fleet [NP] [DP]
c) Announcement and Race Instructions.
d) The infraction of the Rules in AR and IR of this event indicated as[NP] It will not be a reason for protests between ships. This modifies Rule 60.1(a) RRS
e) The infraction of the Rules in AR and IR of this event indicated as[DP] indicates that your penalty may be lighter than disqualification if the protest committee so decides. The abbreviation for the discretionary penalty imposed under this instruction shall be [DPI
f) The penalty for infractions of the IR indicated as [SP] will be fixed, without hearing and imposed by the Race Committee, in the most recently completed race, applied as indicated in Rule 44.3 RRS (modifies Rules 63.1 and A5 of the RRS )
2. ADVERTISING [NP] [DP]
2.1) Participants may display advertising in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 20 of WS.
2.2) The Organization may require the participants to display the sponsor’s publicity in the appropriate way and that will be provided to them before the regatta, not being able to manipulate or modify said material under any circumstances.
3. PARTICIPATION [NP] [DP]
3.1) J80 class boats that comply with the regulations of point 1 of this AR may participate.

4. REGISTRATION
4.1) Registration will be mandatory, at a cost of €30 per boat, and the following documentation must be sent or presented before October 12:
• Duly completed registration form.

• 2018 federative licenses for all crew members.
• Proof of transfer of registration rights.

5. PROGRAM
This program may be modified if circumstances so require (postponement to other dates due to suspension due to storms, etc., or modification of schedules according to forecast weather conditions or other causes). It will not be possible to give a start 60 minutes before sunset on each day.
6. COMPETITION FORMAT
6.1) It will be navigated in fleet, in real time.

7. MEASUREMENT AND SAFETY [NP] [DP]
7.1 The responsibility of attending this regatta having previously updated its Measurement Certificate, measuring the material with which it is intended to participate, is exclusively the registered skipper.
7.2 The number of crew members on board may not be changed during the regatta.
7.3 The safety of this regatta will be considered as category 4 (reduced) in accordance with the Special Rules for High Seas Regatta of the WS
7.4 All boats will have to be equipped with a VHF radio with channels 16, 09, 71 and 72
7.5 It will be the responsibility of the owner or skipper of each boat to comply with the legal regulations established for recreational boats, both in general and in particular for their government, dispatch and security.
8 SCORING SYSTEM
8.1) The Low Score system described in Appendix A of the RRS will be applied.
8.2) There will be one (1) discard from 6 or more races held and two (2) discards from 11 or more races held.
9 PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to at least the top 3 finishers at the dinner to be held on November 24 at 8:30 p.m. at the club.
10 LIABILITY
Participants in the AXA TROPHY – Fall League – J80 Class do so at their own risk and responsibility.
The MRCYB or any person or body involved in the organization of the event, reject any responsibility for loss, damage, injury or inconvenience that may occur to people or things, both on land and at sea, as a result of participation in the tests covered by this race announcement.

The fishing village of Baiona hosted this Saturday, for the fourth consecutive year, the celebration of the Solidarity Vertiathlon, a charity triathlon organized with the aim of raising funds for the Adapted Sailing School for people with disabilities of the Monte Real Yacht Club.
On a day in which the fog wanted to be the protagonist, more than 200 athletes from all over Galicia participated in a sports challenge of 750 meters swimming, 20 kilometers cycling and 5 kilometers running, which the fastest could complete without crossing the time border.
59 minutes and 7 seconds was the great mark of Denis Incutti, winner of the fourth edition of the Vertiathlon in the absolute category. The athlete, from the Riveira Swimming Club, cemented his victory in the race, in which he managed to get a greater advantage over his competitors, completing the 5 kilometers around the Parador Nacional de Baiona in just 17 minutes and 36 seconds.
Second and third place went to Xoel Rodríguez, from the Mar de Vigo Triathlon Club, and Pedro Pablo Bernardez, from the Vilagaría Atenas Running Triathlon, who crossed the finish line separated by just 5 seconds. They also did it less than 30 seconds from the winner, which demonstrates the high quality of the participants and the great rivalry that could be seen in the Baiona triathlon.
María Lois, from the Arcade Infohouse in Santiago, climbed to the top of the women’s podium in the absolute category, with a mark of one hour, 12 minutes and 9 seconds. After collecting the award, he recognized that swimming was the worst test he had, but he managed to regain the lead with the bicycle and in the last 500 meters of the race was where he sentenced. Antía Pazos from the Mar de Vigo Triathlon Club and María Casaleiro with a one-day license closed the trio of winners with silver and bronze in the absolute women’s category.
The first places in the veterans category were signed by Pedro Pablo Bernárdez, from the Vilagarcía Atenas Running Triathlon, who finished the test in one hour and 35 seconds; Xacob Agra, on one-day leave; and Juan Agrasar, from the Galician Motorbike of Pontevedra.
In the junior division, the winners were the same ones who took the victory in the absolute category: Denis Incutti and María Lois. And the second positions were occupied by Cibrán Leal, from the Galician Motorbike of Pontevedra; and Marta Rial, from the Mar de Vigo Triathlon Club.
The fastest among the youngest athletes, grouped in the cadet class, was Xoel Rodríguez, from the Mar de Vigo Triathlon Club. He shared the podium with Xosé Pérez, from the Beariz Triathlon; and Yago Carballo, from the Mar de Vigo Triathlon Club, who had to settle for silver and bronze respectively.
From the Mar de Vigo Triathlon Club, the one that collected the most prizes in this fourth edition of the Baiona Solidarity Vertiathlon was also the winner of the female cadet category, Antía Pazos, with a mark of one hour and 12 minutes.
At the awards ceremony held at the Monte Real Club de Yates, the fastest local athletes also received special recognition, and David Giraldez and Sandra Santodomingo received the prizes for the best classified in the census from the Mayor of Baiona, Ángel Rodal. in the fishing village.

Coinciding with the celebration of the IV Solidarity Vertiathlon, the Nigrán Rompeolas Boats shipyard will present one of its latest creations at the Monte Real Club de Yates, the 4LL, a new collective and inclusive adapted boat model for people with disabilities designed by Javier from Ferrol Cela.
With a length of 7.5 meters and a beam of almost 2.5 meters, the 4LL is a stable, safe and easy-to-handle boat, which facilitates the embarkation and navigation of people in wheelchairs and their transfer to wheelchairs. of navigation existing within the ship itself. Volunteers: the other way to collaborate
All those who are not going to participate in the IV Solidarity Vertiathlon but want to collaborate with the initiative, may do so by participating in the organization of the event. The volunteers, who must be over 16 years old, will be in charge of various logistical tasks for the competition, such as attending to athletes, controlling crossing points, supplies or health care. Traffic: special operation for Saturday
To guarantee the correct celebration of the Vertiathlon, the Local Police of Baiona will cut off local traffic 550 from the gas station roundabout to the Baredo roundabout, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., diverting all traffic to access and exit from Baiona along the road up to Baíña and along the Virgen de la Roca road. Access to the parking lot and the walled enclosure of the Parador will also be controlled; and the taxi rank will be moved to Brasil street and the public transport stops to the Puga and health center areas.

The Prince of Asturias Trophy, organized by the Monte Real Yacht Club and the Escuela Naval Militar with the sponsorship of ABANCA, crowned the champions this Sunday of an edition marked by the high level of the participating fleet. The best crews from Galicia and Portugal met one more year in the most important nautical competition in Galicia and did not disappoint in the water, giving a show until the end despite the complicated conditions that characterized this edition.
The wind wanted to be the protagonist and made it very difficult for a regatta committee that, during the three days that the competition lasted, had to adjust and readjust routes and tests so that the sailboats could compete for the trophy with the best possible conditions. Despite these difficulties, finally all the classes in contention were able to enjoy sailing through the Rías Baixas and fill in the classification boxes.
The big boats, ORC classes 0-1, 2 and 3, were blank on the first day of competition, but the second and third came out with a lot of enthusiasm and their tests could not have been more close. The ORC 4, Classics and Open were also left stranded by the wind shortly after the start of Saturday’s test, and today the ones most affected by Eolo’s whims were the one-designs, who were not allowed to compete in any of the scheduled heats.
The Pairo 8 revalidates the title in the MARTIN MILLER ORC 0-1 class
After having won the Rías just a few weeks ago, José Luis Freire’s Pairo 8 arrived in Baiona ready to add another victory in the Príncipe de Asturias and revalidate the title achieved in 2017, and with the four races held he was able to fulfill his wishes. “It was a very close competition since there were 4 or 5 boats in the class that are competing at a high level” assured the skipper of the Pairo and J70 Corinthian European champion Luis Bugallo. “Yesterday we and the April team separated us a bit from the rest and today the play went well for us and we were able to sentence” , he affirmed. The crew of the Real Club Náutico de Vigo won the title of the competition for tall ships, leaving in second place their teammate and most direct rival, the Aceites Abril of the brothers Luis and Jorge Canal. Bosch Service Solutions wins in the APRIL ORC 2 OILS class
The Bosch Service Solutions of the Club Marítimo de Canido, with Ramón Ojea at the wheel, was the winner of the Aceites Abril ORC 2 class. With three firsts in the four races held, Jacobo Solorzano’s Bunda took a more than deserved first prize in the Gadis ORC 3 class. Those from the Real Club Náutico de A Coruña had Plan B led by Nuno Ribas on the attack at all times, but the Portuguese from Clube de Vela Atlántico were one point behind the winner and had to settle for climbing to second place on the podium. The trio of honor in the competition was completed by Luis García Trigo’s Unus, who haggled for the Monte Real Club de Yates.
The Balea Dous takes the VOLVO AUTESA ORC 4 class

Luis Molina’s Blue Moon took the grand prize of the Storax Clásicos class to the Real Club Náutico de A Coruña, an award that the skipper received from the president of the Monte Real Yacht Club José Luis Álvarez. The Portuguese Manuel María Cunha led the crew of the Marías – Casas do Telhado to victory in the Solventis J80 class, taking the victory from Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen, who started as the favorite after having won in 2016 and 2017. The Portuguese from BB Douro repeat victory in the HELLO! LADIES CUP
On board HOLA.COM, the Portuguese from BB Douro We Do Sailing, led by Portuguese 420 vice-champion Marta Ramada, repeated their victory for the second year in a row at ¡HOLA! Ladies Cup. They started as clear contenders for the throne and they did not disappoint, making it clear that they are champions. On board the sailboat were the runner-up in the world of Snipe, Mafalda Pires de Lima, and the Portuguese champions of Laser and 420, Carolina Joao and Joana Azevedo. Count of Barcelona Award for the best Portuguese ship
Another of the awards given each year by the 33rd Prince of Asturias Trophy is the Juan de Borbón Count of Barcelona Award for the best ship with a Portuguese crew, which this year went to Porto de Aveiro, led by Delmar Conde, from the Boca da Nautical Club. Ready for the Solidarity Vertiathlon
After holding its great annual event, the Monte Real Club de Yates still has two more competitions ahead of its 2018 sports calendar: the Baiona Solidarity Vertiathlon and the J80 Autumn League. The fourth edition of the triathlon with which the club raises funds for its Adapted Sailing School for people with disabilities will be held in just a few days, on September 15. The Monte Real Yacht Club presented the Terras Gauda National Sailing Awards tonight in Baiona at a gala held as part of the 33rd Prince of Asturias Trophy
· MAPFRE in the Volvo Ocean Race, the five-time world champion “Princesa Yaiza”, the 470 world runners-up, the owner Luis Senís, the boat “Pez de Abril” and the EFE Agency were awarded in this edition
· The event attended by some of the most outstanding athletes on the Spanish nautical scene ended with a fellowship dinner and fireworks
The Monte Real Club de Yates delivered the Terras Gauda National Sailing Awards tonight in Baiona at a gala held as part of the 33rd Prince of Asturias Trophy, which the Baiona club has been organizing since Friday with the help of the Military Naval School. Hosted by the Galician Television presenter, Carlos Macía, and the club’s head of communication, Rosana Calvo, the gala was attended by some of the most outstanding athletes on the Spanish nautical scene.
The person in charge of welcoming the attendees was the president of Monte Real, José Luis Álvarez, who took advantage of the occasion to congratulate the Military Naval School, co-organizer of the Prince of Asturias Trophy, for its 75 years of history in Galicia. Álvarez also recalled two anniversaries related to the world of sailing: the 525th anniversary of the arrival of the caravel Pinta in Baiona, which will be celebrated in 2018, and the fifth centenary of the first circumnavigation of the world by Magellan and ElCano, which will be will commemorate in 2019.
The president of Bodegas Terras Gauda, sponsor of the event, succeeded at the microphone. In his speech, José María Fonseca Moretón recalled his beginnings in the world of sailing with his father and the close relationship that unites him with the Monte Real Yacht Club, of which he has been a member for more than 50 years.
After the welcome speeches, the winners followed one another on stage to collect their award and give a few words of thanks. The first to do so was the Valencian Luis Senís, who received from the commanding officer of the Naval Military School, Ignacio Cuartero, the award for the best skipper of the year for the results obtained at the head of the “Clínicas Dr. Senís” (previously Porrón IX ), with which he became the Swan 45 world champion and won the Nations Trophy for the second consecutive year.
The president of the Monte Real Yacht Club, José Luis Álvarez, was in charge of giving José María Meseguer from Murcia the award for the best boat of the year, which in 2018 went to the “Pez de Abril”, winner of the two nautical competitions most prestigious in Spain, the Copa de la Reina and the Copa del Rey.
Although they were unable to attend the gala because they were competing in Japan, the 470 class world runners-up, Silvia Mas and Patricia Cantero, also had their minute of tribute at the Terras Gauda National Sailing Awards gala. Silvia’s father, David Mas, thanked the award given to him by the territorial director of ABANCA, Walter Álvarez.
The Mariano Aguado Communication Award went this year to the EFE Agency, for its dissemination of current sailing events in Spain, publicizing the activity of Spanish clubs, teams and athletes. The agency’s sports manager, Luis Villarejo, collected the award from Pilar de Sas.
The next award to be given was the best one-design of the year, which was won by the Canarian crew of the “Princesa Yaiza”, which this year made history by achieving its fifth world championship in the J80 class. Rayco Tabares from Lanzarote and part of his team gathered on stage to collect the award given to them by the president of the Monte Real Yacht Club, José Luis Álvarez.
Undoubtedly one of the moments that generated the most applause among the audience was the announcement of the prize for the best regatta team, which this year was awarded to MAPFRE for its brilliant performance in the Volvo Ocean Race, in which they achieved a meritorious second position. The trimmer and the bow of the team, the Galician Támara Echegoyen, received the award from the president of Terras Gauda wineries, José María Fonseca Moretón.
After finishing the gala, a great fraternization dinner began in the village of the Prince of Asturias Trophy in which there was no lack of fireworks. The point and end of the day was put by a great party that lasted until well into the morning.

The thirty-third edition of the Prince of Asturias Trophy is now in its final stretch after the celebration, this Saturday, of the second of the three days in competition. It does so with very tight standings and the winners’ podiums still undefined, waiting for what happens in the final stage tomorrow, Sunday.
The large sailboats, of the Martin Miller ORC 0-1, Aceites Abril ORC 2 and Gadis ORC 3 classes, which were left without competition yesterday by the weak wind, were able to compete today in three races in front of the Cíes Islands. The boats that started as favorites were marking their ground with difficulties, since the tests were very close and the arrivals very tight.
Today the boats of the Storax Clásicos, Comunica Open and Volvo Autesa ORC 4 classes also premiered, although the wind played tricks on them and the calm they suffered shortly after taking the start, made many decide to abandon or not complete the test in the time limit.
Among them haggled the AXA Seguros boat, a 100% inclusive sailboat with a crew made up of students from the Juan María de Nigrán Center with different intellectual disabilities, accompanied by several specialized trainers. On board a Beneteau Oceanis 31 loaned by the Monte Real Yacht Club, AXA Seguros, which also has the collaboration of the Department of Social Policy of the Xunta de Galicia, sailed in the Open class.
In the J80 one-design competition and the HELLO! Ladies Cup, very complicated by the wind, there were upsets in the classification and, in both cases, the leading sailboats exchanged places with the second classified.
Thus, the design of the provisional podiums is still too open to point out clear favorites to take the trophy, and everything will depend on what happens in the last races in dispute, which will be held tomorrow, Sunday, starting at noon.
Great premiere of the MARTIN MILLER ORC 0-1 class
The April Oils of the brothers Luis and Jorge Pérez Canal opened this Saturday the locker of the Martin Miller ORC 0-1 class with a second, a fourth and a first place in the three races that allowed it to be at the top of the classification. Just one point apart is followed by his partner from the Vigo yacht club and one of his most direct rivals in the competition, José Luis Freire’s Pairo 8, skippered by the young Luis Bugallo. The provisional third position is for the Portuguese Delmar Conde.
Inosa commands the class OILS APRIL ORC 2
Marina Sada’s Inosa, led by Fran Edreira, was the sailboat that obtained the best results in the Aceites Abril ORC 2 class, and takes the provisional gold in the pocket, but the classification is so tight that everything is still very open. Ramón Ojea’s Bosch Service Solutions (Club Marítimo de Canido) remains on the lookout from second place, just one point behind the leader; and with one point less, Grupo Santorum & Martínez, owned by Javier Durán, from the Club Náutico de Riveira, is third.
The Bunda was placed first in the GADIS ORC 3 class
The Bunda crew from A Coruña, with Jacobo Solorzano at the controls, was the clear winner of the day in the Gadis ORC 3 class. Three victories in the three contested races and three points that bring him closer to the final victory. With 6 points, Plan B by Nuno Rivas is second and somewhat lower, with 11, is Unus by Luis García Trigo, from the Monte Real Club de Yates.
Travesío and Balea dous lead the VOLVO AUTESA ORC 4 class
The Travesío La Riviere Conservas and the Balea Dous are the clearest contenders for the podium in the Volvo Autesa ORC 4 class, as they were the only boats that this Saturday were able to score points on the second day of the Príncipe competition. The boats from Vilagarcía and Rodeira, skippered by Pablo de la Riva and Luis Pérez, are first and second respectively and among them will be, almost in all probability, the winner of the Prince of this 2018.
The Nautical School will lead the COMUNICA OPEN class
The Comunica Open class closes its first day of competition with two boats in the lead and the rest of the fleet points, after abandoning the competition due to lack of wind or not being able to complete it within the time limit established by the committee. The Escuela del Náutico, of the Real Club Náutico de Vigo, skippered by Bernal Xian Figueiras, was the first to complete the 13 and a half mile course. Ten minutes later, Daniel Ayaso, who is second in the standings, crossed the Moucho.
Everything to decide in the STORAX CLASSICS class
The wind was the worst of the rivals for the Storax Clásico class sailboats, since it did not blow with enough intensity to allow them to finish what was their first test in this Prince of Asturias Trophy. Everything is still pending, therefore, in a class that will take to the water tomorrow, Sunday, just as it started, without a clear favorite and without a defined provisional podium.
The Marías climbs positions in the SOLVENTIS J80 class
Manuel María Cunha’s Marías-Casas do Telhado and Javier de la Gándara’s Okofen, both from Monte Real Club de Yates, are being the undisputed protagonists of the one-design competition in the Solventis J80 class. In today’s session, very complicated by a very shifty wind, which also appeared and disappeared at times, the first places in the two contested races alternated. They were placed at the top of the classification separated by just one point from each other, and 4 and 5 points away from their most direct rival, Fernando Yáñez’s Cansino, also from Monte Real, who is third.
I roll over in the HELLO! LADIES CUP
In the HELLO! Ladies Cup, the Portuguese from BB Douro We Do Sailing, aboard HOLA.COM, stormed the lead by snatching the first position from HOLA FASHION from Santander. The defenders of the title, with Marta Ramada in the lead, gave no respite to their rivals and crossed the finish line in first position in the two contested races. The team from the Real Club Náutico de Santander fell to second place on the provisional podium and the girls from the Real Club Marítimo de Abra – Real Sporting Club, skippered by Lourdes Bilbao, are third.
Tomorrow Sunday the curtain falls
The 33rd Prince of Asturias Trophy closes the curtain tomorrow, Sunday, with the celebration of the last tests of the competition and the awards ceremony for the winners. If the weather reports are met, the wind will once again make an appearance in the Rías Baixas, although somewhat later than expected, which could delay the start time of the tests, scheduled for twelve noon. Be that as it may , tomorrow, Sunday, the name of the new winners of the Prince of Asturias Trophy, the great sailing event in Galicia, will be announced. In addition to awarding trophies to the top three winners in each category, the Conde de Barcelona Trophy will be awarded to the best Portuguese boat, the Mary Woodward special award to the best Solventis J80 class boat, and the ¡HOLA! Ladies Cup. The awards ceremony will be held at six in the afternoon at the Monte Real Club de Yates.
